Omote Ura
Duet for cello and two solo for cello
for Duo Allemande
for Duo Allemande
Two solo for cello that can be played toghether as a third piece.
When Duo allemande ask me to compose a piece for them, my principal concern was to use all the potentiel of having two same instruments playing together. At first, I imagine to treat the two cellos as one instrument. That’s how the idea of Omote Ura came. The two celli are one person with two side. The two side in a person cannot be separate but this two side are very reconizable.
To express this idea, I used only 6 notes for one cello in a musical phrase while at the same time the other cello use the other six notes. They never had a note in common exept for few seconds at the begguining. Alone, they have their own specific world but when they play together, they can reach harmony, in a philosophical and musical way.
In our life, we seek harmony and found it when we succes, after a hard quest, to balance our inside world and our outside world. This is our chalanging task.
